RACE 7, ALL TWO-YEAR-OLDS, 5 ½ FURLONGS, DIRT, 4:23 P.M. ABOVE THE DRAMA (2yo bay colt) is the first foal out of Diva, whose dam Clear Mandate won three Grade 1 events: the Spinster, the John A. Morris (now the Personal Ensign), and the Shuvee. Clear Mandate has produced three horses with black-type, including Newfoundland, a two-time Grade 3 winner who placed in a pair of Grade 1 races, and listed stakes winner Full Mandate. CANE GARDEN BAY (2yo dark bay or brown colt) is a half-brother to two stakes-placed runners, including Bear in the Woods, who was second in the 2005 Grade 1 Triple Bend Handicap. Their dam, Trav n’ Kris, was second in the Grade 2 Landaluce as a juvenile. By freshman sire Rockport Harbor, Cane Garden Bay was pinhooked for $25,000 as a Keeneland September yearling and was resold for $180,000 at the OBS March Selected Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training sale after covering a furlong in 10 2/5 seconds (video). CITY COOL (2yo bay colt), by City Zip, was a $25,000 Keeneland September yearling who blossomed into a $190,000 OBS Spring juvenile after covering a furlong in 9 4/5 seconds (video), tied with 20 others for the quickest move at the distance during the breeze show.
